April 1 - May 27 ESL and Drivers Manual Programs will meet at St Tims from 9:00 to 12:00. April 5 - Chantal has a speaking engagement at Sandia Prep April 13 - Chantal has a speaking engagement at Rio Rancho High School In case you missed it! Afghan Healing Event: In the beginning of March Umoja hosted a community healing event for our Afghan community where we spent an afternoon of food and conversation. We explored practices that support and sustain healthy communities, increase resilience, and strengthen bonds of friendship.  Smile Day: We hosted another Smile Day, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Utopia Dental Care. Smile Day is a pop up dental clinic that provides dental screenings and cleanings to our clients. This event helps bridge the gap in accessing dental health care.  Global Ties Albuquerque: Chantal addressed delegates at Global Ties Albuquerque in the end of March. Members of Umoja Abq’s board have been meeting and speaking with various organizations in the Albuquerque area to spread awareness of the work that we are doing.  General Updates: We are organizing office space! As Umoja Abq grows in client numbers and programs, we are also needing more space. St. Tim’s has graciously offered office space for Umoja Abq team members to use. This will help us to continue working on our programming and planning, which in turn helps us grow in community, volunteers and board members! We have a new page on our website! We are still collecting funds to provide 100 dictionaries to our clients for use in our pre-literacy and English language classes. The dictionaries, $30 each, we selected has an excellent section on technology and images along with definitions. Donate Check out our Facebook
